“কমিশন চাইছে গ্রেড এ, রাজ্য সরকার পাঠাচ্ছে গ্রেড বি ও গ্রেড সি অফিসার”
Aaj Khabor Desk, Kolkata, West Bengal, 10/02/2026 : The Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari, accused the Trinamool Congress-led state government of violating the Election Commission’s directives regarding officer deployment for election duties. He claimed that although the Election Commission had requested Grade ‘A’ IAS and WBCS officers, the state government attempted to appoint only Grade ‘B’ and Grade ‘C’ WBCS officers.
According to Adhikari, the Election Commission had sought 294 IAS and WBCS officers for election-related work. However, the state government submitted a list of only 225 officers, all of whom belonged to Grade ‘B’ and Grade ‘C’. These officers were proposed to be appointed as Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), despite the Commission’s explicit demand for Grade ‘A’ officers.
Suvendu Adhikari stated that this move amounted to a direct violation of the Election Commission’s instructions. He further pointed out that while the Bihar government provided 1,000 data operators to the Election Commission, the West Bengal government failed to supply a sufficient number of data operators for the same purpose.
