Aaj Khabor Desk, Dhaka, Bangladesh,11/02/2026 : The long-awaited elections are set to take place in Bangladesh tomorrow. In view of the voting atmosphere, sensitive areas across the country have been placed under tight security.
In 2024, the Awami League-led government in Bangladesh collapsed following a student uprising. Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina left the country. A tribunal court in Bangladesh later found Hasina guilty and sentenced her to death. As head of the interim government, adviser Muhammad Yunus has been running the country. Sheikh Hasina’s party was banned in Bangladesh, and therefore the Awami League is not contesting this election.

On the occasion of the election, a large police force has been deployed in different parts of the country. The streets of the capital, Dhaka, have been placed under strict security to prevent any untoward incidents on polling day. Police are also monitoring the situation to ensure that minorities are not subjected to any attacks.
Tomorrow, 127.7 million voters will cast their votes for candidates in 299 constituencies. Voting has been suspended in one constituency due to the death of a candidate. The election results are expected to be declared on the 13th.
